How to Build a Swimming Pond
It takes quite a lot of technology and engineering construction to create a 'natural’ pond. The works started in November and my first swim was the following August. Prior to all that was of course the design work and planning permission. This photo gallery follows the construction process from the first setting out of survey points and the arrival of the first - of many - heavy excavators. My very own building site!
(The photos in this gallery were taken using my old camera and are low resolution, but I do hope they are of adequate quality to convey the story. This camera eventually got dropped into the pond and was replaced with a rather more sophisticated model.)
The photo at the top of this page shows the pond as it is today, more than ten years later.
